This spring and summer, nine foster children from New Life Village picked up a violin or cello for the very first time. Thanks to the generous support of The Libertore Fund for Children, those first tentative notes soon became confident performances for the community.

Along the way, the students participated in weekly music classes and were inspired by professional musicians from The Florida Orchestra, who shared their talents, encouraged their progress, and helped them grow as young musicians.

But the greatest transformation happened beyond the music.

By the end of the program, students reported greater confidence in themselves and their ability to learn. They described playing the violin or cello as one of the most important experiences for their future and showed remarkable growth in managing difficult emotions—one of the hardest areas to improve.

Their own reflections tell the story best. They spoke of mastering new skills, taking pride in their accomplishments, learning the value of practice and teamwork, and experiencing the joy of giving back through their performances.
