A Story of Love in Action: Christian’s Journey

At The Libertore Fund for Children, we believe every child deserves access to opportunity through sports and the arts. Christian’s story is a powerful example of what happens when financial barriers are removed and belief is strengthened.

This Valentine’s season, we are celebrating love in action. Not just words, but investment. Not just encouragement, but access.

Because of scholarship support from The Libertore Fund for Children, Christian was able to participate in the Adventure for All Gravel and Giving program, which led to the most transformative year of his life. (Watch the video he shared with us, below)

A Medically Complex Child with an Unbreakable Spirit

Christian is under the care of more than 15 medical specialists. Despite significant health challenges, his desire to pursue athletics never faded. What he needed was access, structure, and support.

Through scholarship funding, Christian gained:

  • A supportive and inclusive athletic community

  • Leadership opportunities mentoring other youth with exceptionalities

  • Confidence, independence, and resilience

  • Lifelong friendships

Access to structured programs changes more than schedules. It changes self belief.

Extraordinary Athletic Milestones

Last season, Christian achieved goals that once seemed impossible:

  • Completed the 65 mile Steamboat Gravel ride

  • Won 1st Place in his adaptive division at the USA Triathlon Gravel National Championship

  • Earned an invitation to represent Team USA at the World Cross Triathlon Championships in Abu Dhabi

At the beginning of the season, Christian did not swim or run. Within nine months, he:

  • Advanced from short distance to long distance triathlons

  • Earned multiple podium finishes

  • Placed 3rd at the 2025 USAT National Championship

  • Qualified for the 2026 USAT National Championship

  • Completed his first marathon and was accepted to run the Boston Marathon

  • Finished a full Ironman in under 14 hours

All while undergoing bilateral jaw advancement surgery at Shriners Children’s mid-season.

This is what resilience looks like when supported by opportunity.

Why Scholarships for At Risk and Adaptive Youth Matter

Sports and arts programs do more than develop skill. They build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and identity. For children with disabilities or financial hardship, access to these programs is often limited.

Scholarships:

  • Remove financial barriers

  • Provide safe and structured environments

  • Create mentorship opportunities

  • Build social and emotional growth

  • Develop leadership potential

Christian is now positioned to inspire other youth with invisible disabilities on a national stage. His success extends beyond competition. He is mentoring, leading, and proving what is possible.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Christian’s upcoming season includes:

  • A 100 mile Unbound Gravel ride

  • Defending his national title

  • Competing at Rebecca’s Private Idaho Gravel

With continued support, his platform will grow and so will his impact.
